Why this happens
SSI is paid on the 1st of every month. When the 1st falls on a Saturday, Sunday or federal holiday, Social Security pays on the business day before, which can be the last business day of the previous month. That leaves one month with two deposits and the next month with none. The total you receive over the year does not change.
Make the November money last
The October 30, 2026 deposit has to cover November. There is no SSI deposit in November; the next one is Tuesday, December 1, 2026.
Two SSI payments in October: common questions
Why are there two SSI payments in October 2026?
SSI is due on the 1st of each month. November 1, 2026 is a Sunday, so Social Security pays the November SSI payment early, on Friday, October 30, 2026. Your regular October payment arrives Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Is the second SSI payment in October extra money?
No. It is your November 2026 payment, paid early. The amount is your normal monthly SSI.
Will I get an SSI payment in November 2026?
No. Because the November payment already arrived on October 30, 2026, there is no SSI deposit in November. Your next payment after that is on Tuesday, December 1, 2026.
Do Social Security and SSDI also pay twice this month?
No. Social Security and SSDI are paid once a month on your birthday Wednesday or the 3rd. Only SSI, which is due on the 1st, gets paid early into the previous month.
How should I budget for the early payment?
Treat the October 30, 2026 deposit as money for November. It has to last until your next deposit on Tuesday, December 1, 2026.
